Total children accepting Christ YTD 2008: 25
IT’S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!
Our second annual Upward Flag Football season is just around the corner and we need your help. With an expectation to grow from 95 children in 2007 to 150 children this year, we need the entire church membership involved with this outreach effort. As you know, our ministry will only be as effective as the leadership that we recruit.
Please prayerfully consider volunteering for one of the roles listed below. Maybe you know someone within the church that has gifts in one of these areas? Please contact Deron Austin at 834-2881 or deron.austin@comcast.net if you would like to discuss one or more of these positions. They are as follows:
PRAYER COMMISSIONER: The prayer commissioner’s focus will be to recruit 100 people to commit to 100 days of prayer during the Upward ministry season. This commissioner also determines the specific prayer requests for the league and organizes the Awards Night Celebration prayer room.
ADVERTISING COMMISSIONER: The advertising commissioner’s focus is saturating the community with information about our Upward ministry. The advertising commissioner should enlist additional team members to help with all aspects of this responsibility.
DIVISION COMMISSIONERS: We anticipate our Upward flag football league to have three divisions, and each one needs a commissioner. Division commissioners recruit coaches, coordinate practice schedules, and help coaches assess and develop salvation aspects of their team.
REFEREE COMMISSIONER: The referee commissioner oversees volunteer referees. This commissioner is responsible for scheduling referees for each game.
DEVOTIONS COMMISSIONER: The devotions commissioner is responsible for ensuring that devotions occur at every game during the season. The devotions commissioner should recruit eight game-day captains, one for each week of games. The devotions commissioner develops the master schedule for game-day devotional leaders.
FOLLOW-UP COMMISSIONER: The follow-up commissioner coordinates with your church’s continuing outreach efforts to ensure that each new believer becomes meaningfully involved in a local church. The follow-up commissioner should recruit team members to visit those who make a commitment during the season or at the Awards Night Celebration.
COACHES & REFEREES: We anticipate needing 12-20 head and assistant coaches and 3-6 volunteer referees. If you have a passion for football, like to work with children and a love for the Lord, this is the job for you!
CONCESSIONS COORDINATOR: Offering drinks, snacks and other foods for sale during our games is a way that we can offset the cost of Awards Night. This role is responsible for purchasing items during the week and lining up church members to work the stand on Game Days.
AWARDS NIGHT COORDINATOR: Having an individual focused on the Awards Night activities helps the Director stay focused on ministering to players and parents during the season. This position develops the schedule and entertainment for this very important evening recapping the season.
Youth Director Search Committee:
The following members were selected to serve as the Youth Director Search Committee:
* Deron Austin
* Tim Bryant
* Ed Coffey
* Allyson DeYoung
* Donna Gibson
* Dixie Mize
* Kristie Sussdorff
Alternates are Wendell Boring, Ted Bullock and Hal Cantrell. Please pray for this committee as they seek God’s person to fill this position.
